Hair loss is a common problem and one that has various treatment options. Hair loss can occur due to various factors. Some people may experience hair loss due to poor hair care. Use of harsh chemical-based hair care products can have a damaging effect on the hair. Excessive sun exposure, pollution and dust can also cause the hair to become rough and brittle.


Hair that tends to become excessively dry is likely to suffer breakage. Another major cause of hair loss is stress. Stress affects the hormonal levels in the body and this has an effect on hair growth. Certain underlying medical conditions may also be responsible for loss of hair. Individuals undergoing chemotherapy also experience hair loss. Hair loss and dandruff is a problem many people battle with on a daily basis. Dandruff results in excessive itching which can cause damage to the hair follicles. Treatment for hair loss includes medications, dietary changes, lifestyle modifications and natural remedies. In order to find the best treatment for hair loss, it is first important to determine the cause of the problem.

There are various hair loss supplements and pills available in the market today. However the effectiveness of these treatments is not the same in all cases. Some of these supplements may also result in harmful side effects. Therefore it is advisable to consult a doctor before using any hair loss supplement or medication. In case the hair loss is due to dandruff, one can make use of commercially available anti-dandruff shampoos. Treatment for dandruff can also be done through natural treatments such application of tea tree oil and rinsing with apple cider vinegar. One can also rinse the hair with lime juice in order to get rid of sticky dandruff. Natural treatment for hair loss can be done using henna leaves and mustard oil. Add about four tablespoons of henna leaves to a cup of mustard oil and bring it to a boil. Filter the solution and then apply to areas of hair loss on the scalp. You can also apply a paste of ground fenugreek seeds and water on the scalp. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then wash the hair. Another beneficial home treatment for hair loss is to massage the scalp with warm oil. You can use oils such as almond, castor or coconut oil. Warm up the oil slightly and then apply to the scalp and hair. Massage with your fingertips to allow the oil to penetrate into the scalp. You can then wrap a warm towel around the head to enable better absorption into the skin.

One of the best ways of preventing hair loss is practice proper hair care. Use gentle shampoos and conditioners and do not subject the hair to excessive brushing. Use a wide toothed comb to remove tangles as this will prevent breakage. Another good way to prevent hair loss is to get adequate rest and sleep. Also follow a healthy and nutritious diet so that the hair follicles receive adequate nourishment.
