Juices for overweight and peptic ulcer

Being overweight is a bane, as it results in a number of physiological and psychological complications. Overweight causes include improper eating pattern, lack of exercise, poor lifestyle and so on. Obesity and overweight are closely related to each other. An individual is classified so, on the basis of the body mass index or BMI. Many a times, an individual is improperly fitted in the overweight obese category.

Most fruit and vegetable juices are helpful in obesity, provided, there is no added sugar. Apple juice is not allowed, as research reveals its association with obesity. Fruits are a better alternative for fruit juices, due to its fiber content.

Erosion of the intestinal lining, due to the acid secretion is referred to as peptic ulcer. Stomach ulcer is referred to as gastric ulcer. When ulcer is located in the duodenum, it is called duodenal ulcer. Gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer together comprise peptic ulcer. Ulcer symptoms include a gnawing pain in the abdominal region. Gastric ulcer, if small fails to produce any symptoms. Heartburn, bloody stools, weight loss, nausea, chest pain and vomiting are the typical stomach ulcer symptoms.

Raw cabbage juice for about ten days helps and forms a part of gastric ulcer diet. Cabbage juice is of great help for peptic ulcer. Pineapple juice is not recommended, as the enzymes in the fruit increase the pain and discomfort, associated with peptic ulcer. Carrot juice is also effective in healing peptic ulcers. About 200 ml of spinach juice, in combination with 300 ml of carrot juice works wonders! About 100 ml each of cucumber and beet juice with 300 ml of carrot juice proves beneficial.

Raw vegetable juices help to a vast extent. Peptic ulcer diet comprises of foods that decrease the acid secretion. Citrus fruits and vegetables with roughage are not preferred. Milk helps in buffering the stomach acidity. Foods with additives, condiments, spices are not preferred. Irritants, such as tea, coffee, alcoholic beverages are not included. A slightly bland diet helps, as chillies, and other irritants prove harmful. A burning pain in the navel region for as long as many hours is seen to be associated with peptic ulcer symptom. It aggravates in the night. Also then the stomach is empty.

Peptic ulcer treatment involves the usage of antibiotics, acid blockers, cytoprotective agents, proton pump inhibitors and antacids. Stomach ulcer is a result of Helicobacter pylori. Stomach ulcer treatment includes the usage of antibiotics such as amoxicillin, tetracycline and metronidazole, to inhibit the bacteria.

When hungry, on your calorie controlled diet (without one, weight loss is not likely), use juices to satisfy your craving for food.

Choose from the following:

Carrot 8 fl oz (225ml); celery 8 fl oz (225ml).
Spinach 8 fl oz (225m); beetroot 8 fl oz (225ml).
Cucumber 4 fl oz (100ml); beetroot 6 fl oz (175ml); tomato 6 fl oz (175ml).
Or any others you fancy. A pre-meal mixture which helps to reduce
appetite is:
1 tablespoonful (l5ml) honey; celery 10 fl oz (275ml).

Read the sections on cabbage and papaya. Do not take a bland diet unless there is a special medical reason for doing so. On the contrary, use whole meal bread. Take Cabbage 16 fl oz (450ml) - 30 fl oz (850ml) a day, and, as desired;
Pineapple and papaya juice.
Comfrey 12 fl oz (350ml).
Potato 16 fl oz (450ml).
