GM Diet for Vegetarians

The General Motors diet or the GM diet for vegetarians is a modification on the GM diet that was apparently made for GM employees in the 1990’s. This General Motors diet is a well known one which is quite difficult to follow. The GM diet for vegetarians, like the original GM diet requires strict adherence to a single item throughout the day. The GM diet plan for vegetarians is even more difficult as it requires giving up on almost all usual food items. The original GM diet was developed for non vegetarians and contained a great deal of fish and meat.

Let us now take a look at the GM diet for vegetarians.

General Motors Vegetarian Diet

The GM vegetarian diet should be followed for seven days. The GM diet for vegetarians aims at a loss of 5-6 kgs at the end of these seven days.
  • Day One:  A vegetarian can eat all the fruits except for bananas. Try and have large quantities of Cantaloupes and watermelon on this day.
  • Day Two: You can eat an unlimited amount of vegetables. These vegetables can either be raw or cooked. However, no salt or garnishing is allowed on these vegetables. Avoid the use of oil or coconut while cooking the vegetables. You can eat a large boiled potato with a little salt for breakfast. This makes up your morning dose of complex carbohydrates.
  • Day Three: Only fruits and vegetables are allowed on this day. Once again avoid oil and the morning potato of Day two is taboo as well. Use herbs if you like to flavor your fruits and vegetables. Fruit juice and vegetable juice is not permitted on this day.
  • Day Four: On the fourth day only bananas and milk are permitted. You are allowed up to eight bananas and three glasses of milk on this fourth day of the GM diet for vegetarians. One bowl of vegetable soup is also allowed today.
  • Day Five: This is regarded as a feast day. You can eat six whole tomatoes and one cup of rice. Drink at least 12 glasses of water throughout the day as this will help clear your system of the uric acid it is producing today.
  • Day Six: Eat an unlimited quantity of fruits and vegetables. You may also have one cup of rice.
  • Day Seven: One cup of rice, fruit juice and all the vegetables you wish to consume.
Remember that you can have unlimited quantities of the GM diet soup on any of the above days. This soup is made of onions, tomatoes, celery, cabbage and herbs in 3 ½ cups water.
