Yogurt

Yogurt is a fermented preparation of sole ingredient milk and bacteria, which turn lactose in milk into lactic acid and make milk all the more beneficial to health especially for the elderly.

There have been several studies made in benefits of yogurt. There are known effects of yogurt on people suffering from stomach upsets, ulcers, low immunity, etc. Yogurt has been found extra helpful in case of people trying to lose weight. The live bacterial culture in yogurt has been extra beneficial to humans.

Yogurt is found to be a rich source of calcium, phosphorus, potassium, protein, vitaminB12, riboflavin, iodine, zinc, etc. therefore with so many nutrients yogurt is a nourishing and a nutritious food in itself. It is also low fat if compared to any other snack, therefore in between meals or after a meal you can treat yourself with delicious yogurt.

Yogurt has been proven to be beneficial to those who have low immunity like children and elderly, giving a cup of yogurt each day will help them develop higher immunity levels than they had previously.
Yogurt is also known to lower LDL cholesterol and increases the HDL cholesterol, this way yogurt can prove beneficial to your heart.

Yogurt can fight obesity, it has been found that calcium helps in avoiding obesity, therefore, inclusion of yogurt in your child’s regular diet will reduce the chances that your child will grow obese. Similarly, for all those trying to lose weight, it was found that consuming yogurt helped in increasing the speed of weight loss.

Another form of yogurt the kefir is also an excellent source of nourishment and helps in equal number of benefits like the yogurt, in fact consumption of kefir after meals is quite regular in countries like India and Turkey, kefir is all the more easy to digest than the yogurt.

Yogurt is excellent for young girls, especially yogurt helps build girls’ bones faster and stronger than any other food, this too without putting on too many calories. This calcium rich food can help avoid bone related problems and help children and especially girls grow healthier and strong.

Yogurt has also been found to cure arthritis, this is because of the lactobacillus in yogurt. Yogurt can be consumed by eating it plain or combining it or including it in some other food. Some excellent yogurt recipes can be found in Indian cuisine, where yogurt is part of staple diet.
