Grape Juice And Arthritis

When it comes to treating inflammation there is one question that is often asked by most people, “Is grape juice good for inflammation?” There have been newer treatments which have shown that fruit pectin would work well with inflammation, especially in the case of inflammation with joints like in the case of arthritis.

Pectin present in many fruits naturally in known to relieve joint pain and the pain of arthritis. This is a tried and tested home remedy for arthritis. Fruit pectin is basically insoluble fiber which is found in skins of apples and citrus fruits and in cell walls of other fruits. Grapes are also considered fruits which have large amounts of antioxidants and heart and cholesterol friendly elements.
Pectin was largely used in making of jams and jellies and was commercially available. But then with the discovery of other supplementary health benefits Certo is now often used in inflammation, arthritis and joint pain treatments.

Arthritis patients often suffer from excruciation pain from their joints and toxicity from the pain killers taken to alleviate this pain. Pectin for joint pain relief and other problems proved to be very effective as it has fewer side effects.

Certo which is manufactured from pectin for jams has also shown to have an effect on inflammation when mixed with fruit juice. The use of Certo and grape juice for arthritis are becoming a popular remedy. There is no medical data to prove this but Certo mixed with grape or pomegranate juice is known to help arthritis. Despite the apparent benefits of Certo, it can have side effects when it combines with citric acid. Sodium benzoate, a part of Certo, becomes a carcinogen when it combines with citric acid.

Some studies disagree with the benefits because not only is there no scientific evidence that pectin helps inflammation; drinking added pectin cannot be good for the body. As there is no recommended dosage for Certo, how much should be had in a day varies. This can have its own set of complications. There is the matter of drinking so much of grape juice which is a fruit rich in sugar. Readymade grape juice tends to have added sugar or corn syrup. All these factor rack up the calories one glass of grape juice can contain.

You can even try another home remedy for arthritis. Apple cider vinegar, apple juice, and grape juice, to be mixed in the ratio of 1:3:5. Drinking this mixture every day can reduce the suffering caused from arthritis. Arthritis is a condition that needs to be treated medically, it would therefore be necessary that you consult your doctor about your symptoms as also the treatment options that you are using.
