Stomach Cancer Prognosis, Survival Rate
Cancer is an illness that attacks the body in various forms. Stomach cancer is one of the more complicated forms of cancer because it is extremely difficult to operate and remove sections of the stomach that have been damaged beyond repair. Stomach cancer prognosis begins only after one complains regularly of incessant stomach cramps. Most often, people are unaware of the development of cancer in their bodies till it is at a stage where pain becomes evident and unbearable. A visit to the doctor and a recommendation for an ultrasound will later reveal that the cancer has attacked the stomach lining and is eating into the functioning of the organ.
Stomach Cancer Stages
Stage 1 stomach cancer often goes unnoticed because there is not much pain that is experienced in this stage. Any feelings of uneasiness during the initial stages are usually put down to indigestion and gas that has developed as a result. Stage 2 stomach cancer brings about different symptoms, as the severity of the infection has increased. Burning sensations experienced in the stomach cause concern to a person who is experiencing these sensations because they become extremely difficult to cope with. During this stage, the cancer has started eroding the lining of the stomach wall, leaving it exposed to the harsh action of digestive juices and spices that have been added to the food that is consumed. Stage 3 stomach cancer is even more advanced and has eaten into the middle section of the stomach wall. By this stage, the disease has spread to a few organs around the stomach and has begun to affect a number of lymph nodes. Stage 3 stomach cancer is further divided in to sub parts, known as stage 3A and stage 3B, depending upon the extent of spread of the infection through the stomach wall and lining. Stage 4 stomach cancer is the final stage of cancer where the illness is next to being out of control. By the time you have reached this stage, the lining of the stomach is completely eroded, while the cancer itself has spread to various organs around the stomach. Besides the spread of the infection, chemo therapy and radiation therapy have been completed and the body will be unable to undergo further radiation or chemo therapy. There are, however, various foods that can be consumed to slow down the spread of the infection to various parts of the body. Foods such as apricots and wheat grass are rich in vitamin b17, which is extremely well recommended for its properties in slowing down the spread of cancer.
Stomach Cancer Symptoms
Stomach cancer symptoms in women are not much different from those experienced by men. However, women tend to be able to cope with greater amounts of pain than men and seemingly stay silent about their discomforts for longer periods of time. Bowel changes and persistent feelings of cramps in the stomach are symptomatic to stomach cancer and should not be ignored at any cost. There are often times when women experience a stabbing pain in the pelvic region and mistake the same for pre menstrual cramping. Lower back pains, abnormal bloating of the stomach and abnormal vaginal bleeding are also signs of stomach cancer. Any pain in the pelvic area is a cause for concern and needs to be checked without any delay. Some of the best known stomach cancer signs in men include irregular bowel movements, sudden weigh gain or weight loss, chronic acidity or the feeling of being full after a very small meal, and any pain that is experienced in the abdominal area. Stomach cancer symptoms in children are put down to sharp pains in the stomach, a sudden loss of appetite, irrational weight loss and persistent fevers. Knowing that a child has been afflicted by the deadly disease is something that is extremely difficult to accept, but measures must be taken to control the further spread of the illness. Stage 4 stomach cancer symptoms will include passing of blood in the stool because of the damage that has been suffered to the stomach lining. Breathlessness and burning sensations in the abdominal area are part and parcel of the fourth stage of cancer of the stomach. Diagnosing early stage stomach cancer symptoms is beneficial to the health of the person suffering from the illness because the spread of the disease can be brought under control, to a certain extent, in the early stages itself.
Stomach Cancer Treatment
There are various stomach cancer treatment drugs that have been manufactured over a number of decades, but none of these have been able to cure cancer completely. Natural stomach cancer treatment options, such as the consumption of foods that are rich in vitamin b17 are recommended as an alternative to drugs that are commercially manufactured. There are various stomach cancer treatment side effects that need to be taken into consideration, such as a further loss of appetite with the action of radiation or chemo therapy. Stomach cancer treatment types depend on the extent of damage that has been suffered by the stomach and other nearby organs of the body. Stomach cancer cure will take an extremely long period of time because the organ is never at rest. Gastric juices continue to further cause discomfort because they continue to flow into the stomach. Stomach cancer surgery is advised only if it will not cause further damage to the functioning of other organs around the area that is infected.
